This little flower was in a pot on the walkway just outside our front door. We had bought the plant several years ago and have lost its name tag but we think this is a Hepatica. The flower itself was underneath most of the plant's leaves and wasn't visible from normal standing height. However we had a little time and were using it to hunt high and low for photographs.
Photography notes:
This is a very small flower, so the lens was nearly at its closest focusing limit. Consequently the depth of field was very tiny, so we used a small f-stop. We didn't plan on taking much time with the camera, otherwise we would have used a tripod and maybe tried focus stacking - maybe not, there were wind gusts. The ISO was set higher than we normally use, but the camera provided a good image nonetheless.
