Mt. Baker from West Boundary Bay

We like the walk on the dike that borders boundary bay and this picture is a pleasent reminder of that place. This place is mostly rural but there are several parking placesfor access. When the weather is a little warmer, those parking spots fill up quickly. This picture was made from a spot only 50 metres or so from one of those spots. We normally make about a 4km round-trip walk from here, usually just before or after lunch.

This photo was made on a clear winter day. Mount Baker is about 100km from this spot and those bluffs seen just below it are about 80km away. If you look at the full resolution of this image, you can see individual trees on those bluffs.

Photography notes:

The bottom of the picture is cropped off, it mostly contained washed-up logs similar to the ones at the lower left.

This is the first picture on our site from the Z7II camera. It is a small light but solid camera that is easy to carry and use. Yet it has the high resolution for big prints. This picture was made with a zoom lens with a huge range of 24 to 200mm. In the past we wouldn't expect such a lens to have the image quality we demand for our photographs, yet this lens the resolution and micro-contrast we want. (although f/11 should give good results with most lenes) The camera and lens make a great system for travel and everyday photography.

You can zoom in on this image to see the detail in the full image, however this is highly compressed and the original has better contrast and sharpness.
