This flower was growing in a show garden. The garden's sprinkler system had just stopped and the flower was in full sunlight while the background was shaded by trees. Geraniums such as this one are common in our local gardens as they are relatively easy to grow. They tolerate weather that is harsher than Vancouver's and they cope with most soil conditions that are not waterlogged.
Photography notes:
A spot meter on the flower itself was used to set the exposure, otherwise the large dark background would have tricked the camera into overexposing the flower. After taking the picture (or even during, depending on the camera we're using), we check the image's histogram to verify the quality of the image.
