This photograph was made just outside the city of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. This prairie area is very productive for farming. Although there are many oil wells north and east of this particular place, they are absent here.

This photograph was taken with a Rolleiflex SL66 camera and Carl Zeiss 35mm f/4 Distagon HFT lens onto Kodak TMAX 100 film. The size of the negative is 6X6cm, much bigger than 35mm film that most people are familiar with. It provides more detail and less grain. A red filter was used, it gives the sky that dark contrasty appearance. The camera includes a lens tilt feature that provides the extreme apparent depth of field.
