We were able to buy another new lens at a good price, naturally we had to go and try it out. Overcast skies are common at this time of year, and we don't find it helpful for making the pictures that we like. However there was an interesting pattern to the clouds and we used an image processing technique to include both the sky and a landscape even they are wildly different in brightness.

This image was constructed from 3 images, each with a different exposure. The images were inputs to a "High Dynamic Range" program which compresses the wide range of brightness into a viewable picture.
