We think this is a Greater Yellowlegs, however there were no Lesser Yellowlegs nearby for comparison. The two species look very similar, but their sizes are quite different. This photo was taken at the north end of Centennial Beach on the west side of Boundary Bay, in the south of Greater Vancouver. There was a pool of free water about half the size of a tennis court surrounded by snow and ice. This was the only bird of his species there that day, but he had the company of many Mallard Ducks.
