View from Boundary Bay

Photograph

This photograph was made from the west side of Boundary Bay, south of Vancouver. The lens plus a teleconverter provides about 15 times apparent magnification, so everything here is much further from us than it looks. The tree is about 640m away, the water is about 12km across and the mountains in the background are over 100km away. The high ridge between the mountains and White Rock, at the far side water's edge, is about 75km away. The mountain at the very left edge is named the Canadian Border Peak and the next one over, the tallest in this picture, is the American Border Peak.
