Seeds Ready for Dispersal

These seeds were photographed because they look like they are just leaving their parent plant. Actually there was little wind and tall grass all around, so the seeds were staying put. This was fortunate because it allowed several exposures to be made at slightly different focal distances. This picture was made with a technique called "focus stacking" which uses all those exposures to produce a greater apparent depth of focus than the camera can produce.
