The rainforest of the Pacific Northwest coast includes many different types of fungi. This picture is of the trunk of a Red Alder that is a host to a heavy growth of tree fungus. We haven't seen a tree so heavily covered before. The picture is a close-up, treating the fungus as an abstract pattern, the following picture shows a bit more of the tree for context.
