One of the little pleasures of winter is observing the frost that actually grows on things. In this picture you can see it has the form of many hexagonal crystals that form into tiny pillars above their wooden base. The longest of these crystals was about a centimetre, but in different areas we've seen then get many times that size. Unfortunately for this frost, the day was sunny so it lasted only the one morning.
