Deas Island Cottonwoods

Deas Island (which is now a pennisula) is a regional park in the southwest of greater Vancouver. The western end of the park is sandy/silty and not much higher than the river. These trees (and the imported invasive Scottish Broom) win the natural competition in this biosystem. This photograph was made in the early spring when the trees are leafing out.

This photograph is a raw image from the camera. A polarizing filter was used, it darken the blue of the sky.
