Indian Plum Flower Buds

Oemleria cerasiformis

One of the first signs of spring in our area is the Indian Plum flowers coming out. They haven't quite opened in this picture, but they will in a few days. The Indian Plum is a native plant, this picture was made in Campbell Valley Regional Park where it grows wildly among the Alder, Douglas Fir and Cedar trees.

Photography notes:

We positioned the camera (and ourselves) to place a tree trunk in the background of the subject to emphasize the subject. All of the background is shaded by nearby trees, the subject is outside of this shade. The weather was lightly cloudy with occasional breaks of sunshine.
