Pacific Lily of the Valley

Maianthemum dilatatum

This nice forest cover plant, native to our area, has been named "False Lily of the Valley", as if the European Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) is somehow more "real". There's nothing false about it at all, so we've decided to call it "Pacific Lily of the Valley" instead. It is also known as "Snakeberry" or "Two-leaved Soloman's Seal" but we don't think either of these are better names and they are often used for the similar "Canadian Lily of the Valley" (Maianthemum canadense).
