Horse & Rider at Boundary Bay

There are a few stables on the west side of Boundary Bay so seeing riders there is a common experience. This picture was made before noon when the sunlight glistens off the water. The tide in the shallow west side affects a large area. It is a good spot for bird photography, which was our original idea when we set out that morning.

Photography notes:

We were just getting to know the camera and lens when this photo was taken. As the horse & rider were quite a distance from us, the picture you see is cropped from the original The effective focal length would be about 850mm. Although this photo used a high shutter speed, earlier photos were made at 1/160s, all handheld, with the excellent "vibration reduction" system providing sharp images.
