Very occasionally Vancouver gets "outflow" winter wind from the interior of British Columbia, with origins in the high arctic. This air pushes up the hotter (and hence lighter) air coming off the Pacific Ocean, which in turn no longer is able to hold its moisture. The result is snow, and when it happens we have a few spots that we want to photograph, this being one we had wanted to get to when the snow is right. The nice thing is that a nice restaurant is only a 10 minute walk away where we warmed up and dried off after making this picture.
