This bird was found in bushes off the dyke that protects farmland from the waters of Boundary Bay, south of Vancouver. There were four owls known to stay in this area, probably staying for the winter. There are shorebirds and small mammels (voles mostly) for food and the bushes provide safe perches. The day this picture was made we found three of the owls, and we think we found the fourth after reviewing the photos. This picture is a crop from the original image, the whole image is below.
