While in our backyard, photographing our garden's pollenators, we caught this fly feeding off of a carnation pretending to be a bee. It wasn't actually collecting pollen but had quite a bit stuck to her nonetheless. So while it was basically bar-hopping it was incidentally acting as a pollenator.
Note that a technique called "focus-stacking" was used in this photograph to slightly increase the apparent depth of focus. We would have liked to increase the depth much further but the subject would have had to stay still and this one wouldn't listen to our directions! Please have a look at the detail using the zoom-in viewer at the bottom of this page. (Sorry about the watermark that becomes visible when zooming in)
