Snowy Owl over Boundary Bay

Photograph

Snowy Owls occasionally come to the Vancouver (Canada) area on their autumn migration. They stay for a time around Boundary Bay, a reserved area for migrating birds. The birds are generally inactive during the day, so dawn or dusk are the best times to try to photograph them. We have a number of pictures of these birds on the ground where we were able to get much closer, but we liked the graphics and composition of this picture. Note: we use a very strong telephoto lens and do not come close enough to make them nervous.
