This plant is a gardener's cultivar based on a Mediterrianean plant. The original plant usually had two layers with five petals per layer. Legend has ancient Greeks using the original flower as a love potion's key ingredient, reflected in its common name. These days it makes a relatively easy to grow perennial to add colour to a garden.
