Black Tusk is a mountain south of Whistler, British Columbia. Both are north of Vancouver and can be reached by car via the Sea to Sky highway. This photograph was made from near the Callaghan Ski Resort west of Whistler village. This resort was one of the venues for the 2010 Olympic games. The rocky top of Black Tusk is the cinder cone of an old volcano. In this picture you can see the microwave tower that used to provide communication services to Whistler and Pemberton. In the more detailed computer background version of this image you also see that there is a second tower.
Photography notes:
The top of the picture has been darkened in postprocessing, the original sky was only slightly darker than the sky at the height of the Tusk.
