Female Mallard Duck on Ice

The ducks around the Vancouver area are not used to ice on their ponds even though it does happen on the occasional winter. After sitting in one spot for a while, the thin ice was slightly deformed and the pool of water formed around the duck. Unfortunately when she had had enough of this, and got up to move off, the ice broke beneath her feet making the trip the more difficult.

This image was made onto an ISO 400 film, so it has a bit more noticable grain in it than most of our other photographs.  This image was made with a 300mm lens, but other technical details were not recorded.
