Chipmunk

Photograph

We were looking for marmots and picas, when this little guy scurried along carrying nesting material. This photo was taken in Manning Provincial Park at the alpine meadows parking lot. Every summer we visit this spot to watch the hoary marmots, which use the stony scree for sunning and shelter. This time we were so early that the road was still under snow and closed to the public, which meant we had to hike for the last five kilometres or so.

This photo was taken on Kodak Gold 100 using a 300mm lens at f4 in autofocus mode.
